Great Battles of the Civil War Animated is a multimedia chronicle of the battles that proved decisive during the course of the American Civil War. This four CD-ROM set (PC & Mac compatible) includes an overview of the entire Civil War and three of its greatest battles: Gettysburg, Fredericksburg and Second Manassas.
The Introductory CD-ROM is a good place to begin your journey. The one-hour animated movie takes you step-by-step from the origins of conflict all the way through to its destructive conclusion. When youre ready, click on the individual battles to explore each in detail.
Each Animated Battle CD-ROM contains six multimedia modules:

The Movie Module contains a 30-minute animated movie that will give you a rock-solid understanding of the campaigns that led up to each of the battles.

The Battle Module gives you an extraordinary birds-eye perspective of the battles. Beautifully detailed battle maps are shocked to life with animation, sound effects, and music. Battle reports give you a blow-by-blow account of the action. Zoom in for close up views; click battlefield icons to explore historic photographs, illustrations and hear personal accounts from the diaries of soldiers who fought the battle. You can even take a virtual tour of the battlefields by clicking on the dozens of 360-degree photographs!

The Weapons and Tactics Module is equally impressive. Here you can view animated movies about the tactics used by the cavalry, infantry and artillery or explore the tools of destruction in a unique 3D weapons museum.

The Armies Module provides an in depth description of the combatants. Animated movies and detailed organizational charts explain the strengths and weaknesses of each side.

The Quiz Module is a great way to test your knowledge of the Civil War. Play against a friend or the computer. The faster you answer, the more points you score!

Finally, the Travel Module is a great resource for planning your trip to the battlefield. Its loaded with useful lodging and travel information. If you have an Internet connection, you can even get door to door driving instructions.
